For the writing for my composition process, my process of writing was complicated, as someone with ADHD, I could not always focus on my writing and am easily distracted. In addition to my will to do things not being as strong in times when I need it. The effective communication that I needed with different audiences required that I need to understand the tone, subject, and audience, that I conveyed through word choice, style, and needing to create specific atmosphere showing it was for either adults or children. As a aspiring writer and author who wants to write books for adults, young adults, teens, and children I knew that certain genres demand specific tones for different audiences. I drew from my own experiences with knowing an audience with my own work, so that wasn’t hard. 

The texts that I have produced do look different because they have been created for different audiences, yeah but they have an overall neutral tone that is not very serious, dark and grim, but is not so silly and comedic to the point of it being not taken seriously. My written components like my NARRATIVE, PROCESS AND PLANNING, and PRESENTATION will have a different tone to as this is given to a professor and a college class. While my audience communication book cover will have different tone as it’s for middle grade school tweens. While I did inset a meme that is humorous to people who get the joke on my reflection. 

What I had to know about my topic in order to produce a literature review is somewhat more different than what I had to do for my CONTEXT SHIFT audience communication as I had to write seemingly a draft for my presentation that is also a review and citation for my sources that are rolled into one. For my I-SEARCH assignment since as a person of color, I know that many sources that recite history come from mostly white historians and author. Who have a well-known history of Historical revisionism when it comes to slavery, and European colonialism being sanitized and not being made to seem that bad. Especially when it comes to the European colonization of the Americas and Africa. So I tried to look for sources that came from the Indigenous peoples themselves.

Or if  could not find ones that came from them, ones that were written by white authors, but were biased towards Europeans and show their arrival not as a discovery and adventure in a new world, but as the beginning of conquest, genocide, and profound disruption, shifting focus from European heroism to Indigenous devastation. In addition to knowing that much of this history is violent and I can’t show all of it to middle schoolers who would find this in the school library, so I presented it as a middle grade book that has adult themes discussing these topics, similar to how old Disney movies used to have heavy topics as themes that were explored in the Hunchback of Notre Dame or Pocahontas. Or how the Harry Potter books had themes of white supremacy and the horrors of Nazism portrayed in Voldemort and his Death Dealers.
